𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗣 𝗠𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗘 – 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗖𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘
In the 1980s, during the peak of the Lebanon War, an incredible study was conducted.
It was hypothesized, based on many previous smaller experiments, that if enough people were connected in meditation, stimulating a "powerful field of peace" within - that there would be a radiated influence of peace “without”.
The data from this experiment was astounding. A thousand people came together to meditate with an aim of peace. This translated to reduced war deaths, reduced injuries and numbers of bombs dropped, in the location where the meditation focused.
The results of these interventions included:
- War-related fatalities decreased by 71% (p<10-10)
- War-related injuries fell by 68% (p<10-6)
- The level of conflict dropped by 48% (p<10-8)
- Cooperation among antagonists increased by 66% (p<10-6)
The results of this study were published in the 𝘠𝘢𝘭𝘦 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘑𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘵 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 (Dec. 1, 1988 and 1990: https://www.jstor.org/stable/174032 and https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/0022002790034004009), the peer reviews concluded that the paper was "unassailable".
Over the next two years, seven other scientific collaborations repeated the study. An 80% drop in war deaths and war related injuries in comparison to all the other days during this period where there were no mediating groups.
